OVERVIEW
- Each 5-minutes-each circle member
controls their choice of jam, discussion, training,
recording etc wearing a backlit 'conch' shell
- Members are seated around an inner square of four (HDMI split)
TVs or before one big screen if the new community
centre has one
available.
- It is a non-profit weekly event for seniors*
... yet to be defined as over 50 ... over 40 or less.
- A $2 coin will be required for admission.
- A sign on sheet will be required for
insurance purposes but that data (as written) will not
be:
- onsold or given to
other entities
- scanned, typed or entered in to a
database
- used for spam or
other commercial purposes
- 'Membership' per se will remain an informal
affair with a nickname and email address forming the
only basis for weekly updates and YouTube community
contributions
THE NEW COMMUNITY CENTRE

drop out with ease.

on machine heads.
- Safely place your case against the wall or
on the benches around the room.
- Nothing starts till all trip or
'poke-in-the-eye' hazards are dealt with.
- People will heartily count "5-4-3-2-1"
when your five minutes is up.
- Procedures and (conventions that evolve)
will appear here on this site so that newcomers are well
informed and are welcomed as 'insiders' from the outset.

online as chordpro
text and graphics.
- An attached AppleTV allows circle members
to display chords, lyrics, training materials or live
close-ups of their fretboard.
QUESTIONS
-
This will be added to and informs formal
policy and conditions displayed on sign-ons and membership
documents.
-
-
Can people formally spruik about grants,
business services or money making ventures (gigs)?
- On 5-minutes-each nights ... no ...
unless the present 5-minutes-each
night mob think it is appropriate via a show of hands.
- Visiting or resident VIPs (vested
interest personalities) may get their own
five minutes occasionally so that people can quiz them.
-
-
Can electric guitarists bring an amp
and/or pedals?
- Yes, but <= 20watts.
- Everything must be battery powered and
positioned under or no more than half a metre from your
seat.
- Any recording of 'other' circle members
(through mixers loopers or mics) must be done with their
permission prior to starting your five minutes.
- During a circle member's five minutes
the club may be able to loan a wireless transmitter for
your guitar, a wireless lav mic and a connected amp to
help you get the experience, project and move with ease
and safety
-
-
Are we covered by insurance?
- It is likely that key people who set up
and pack up are 'trainers' ... registered with 'Duck
for Cover' and appropriate public
liability coverage.
- Some (some) public liability coverage is
via the community centre itself but, short of
incorporation (which is a pain), non-profit status with
'trainers' is (so far) the cheapest way to solve the
insurance problem.
- Trainers won't be pulling rank over
what you play or what you say but they will be very
focussed on safety and hazards ... please cooperate with
them.
- Further research may reveal other
options ...
-
-
What about the money side of things?
- Weekly updates will include all
transactions from a Gungahlin Westpac account with a PDF
of the statements one click away.
- The club accounts do not serve as a
reservoir for any funds or projects eg: grants,
business sponsorship or gigs.
- The club account just pays the rent
and required insurance or registration
from $2 coin
donations on the night.
- Any time, equipment, advice or
labour for any event or project is provided
voluntarily and is either given at your own risk or
under the auspices of 'trainers' &/or guidelines
dictated by the club's insurance (public liability)
policies.
- Coinage can be deposited in the Westpac
ATM enclave late at night or when opportune.
- The club will not own much (or make
much) in the way of assets or revenue.
- it might own some stereo amps, a
mixer and a wireless lav mic or two for
five-minutes-each open mic performances
- Savings for agreed objectives will be
depicted in gannt charts and graphs showing deadlines
and weekly savings allotted to them such as:
- storage
- advanced room bookings
- insurance (eg Duck for Cover)
- non-profit registration with ACT
government
- any other costs or deposits required
by the venue
FREE VIDEO AND AUDIO RECORDING
- People who share original stuff and agree
to be the subject of audio or video recording through the RODEcaster
Video S (or other equipment that members bring) hold
all recording and distribution rights receiving (free) all
separate takes, stems (or volunteer post-production) from
all present mics and cameras.
- Workshops from different vested interests
regarding copyright, recording rights, royalties, APRA etc
are likely to be a mainstay of club activity.
